New Year's Resolutions

I have some New Year's resolutions and I'm pretty much failing out of the starting gate. McDonald's suckered me into trying the new Snack Wrap Mac. Curiosity got the best of me and I tried one. It was good, I'm not gonna lie. I love Big Mac sauce, but I know it's not doing my body any good. So I'm signing up for a 24 hour fitness 7 day trial. My job offers a discount so I'm going to sign up on a more permanent basis, but I just want to see what they're about. My New Year's resolution to drink less is actually going OK. I've cut down on drinking during the week and my mornings are better for it. The writer's bug has hit me again and I've begun writing a small short story in my spare time using Google Documents. I like having a mobile notepad to scribble down my tales on. Anyway, no word on my podcast yet. I'm fighting myself with regards to procrastination, self-doubt and being over prepared. Here's hoping I can crank an episode out this weekend and start up my show already. Wish me luck!

Check out Office Zen: Audio Tips on Focusing on One Task at a Time

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas. I got drunk off eggnog, spent time with the fam and enjoyed the season. I'm already plotting on what I want to change for the new year. Here's a link to a podcast that will help with organization and gettings done. Something I plan on improving on.

I want you to take a look at: Office Zen: Audio Tips on Focusing on One Task at a Time

Black Christmas

My all time favorite Christmas movie was National Lampoon's Christmas vacation. This movie, starring Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo, has been a staple in my home since it burst on the scene. It's mix of holiday cheer and comedic fuck-ups gets me in the mood. This year is different. I'm talking about the movie, "This Christmas". The all star cast of Loretta Devine, Chris Brown, David Banner & Idris Alba made me curious from the get go. It seemed like another "Soul Food" clone to me about the struggles of African-American families in America. I was pleasantly surprised that it was a well-written cinematic piece of a black family Christmas. My mother not only has the dvd, but it's been playing seemingly around the clock in her house. So I'll go ahead right now and pass the baton from the Griswold family to Whitfields as must see tv at Christmastime for my family. I recommend both the old schooler and the newcomer alike, but this Christmas you should be watching "This Christmas".

I know it's corny, but when I was young I loved this song from the movie.

360 Waves

I'm working on getting 360 waves. That's neither here nor there, I just thought I'd mention it and post a video. I just recently recovered from that Thanksgivingitis, so I have enough energy to bless you guys with a post. My cousin recently told me his recipe for getting 360 waves in his head because, to be honest, my hair acts a damn fool. I don't have that "good hair" I guess. Anyway, I found some clips on youtube with other brothas giving their advice on makin' boys seasick when they see you. Here's some below and MERRY CHRISTMAS! Next up will probably be my annual wish list, but look forward to more frequent posts from me. I wont even mention my podcasting debut, too many broken promises. We'll see...

President Obama

We did it! After 400 years of slavery, countless obstacles, insurmountable odds, a black man has been voted into the highest office in America. November 4, 2008 is a day that will live forever in the memories of millions of Americans as the day we stood together. We came to a decision as a populace that we would not stand for more republican bullshit. We, as black people, got off our asses and made a difference. I know my son and daughter will forever remember this Halloween as the day they watched their father vote for a man that looked like him to be president. God bless America!

Sarah Palin FTW

Ummm... Sarah Palin. That's all I have to say. No seriously, Alaska being close to Russia does not a foreign policy make. I'm not hating on her gender, I mean we deserve a woman in office. She isn't the one. In fact, she's setting women back because of the public spectacle being made of how little she knows. I'm anxious to see her go against Joe Biden tonight because they've been hiding her from the media. You know what they say about people thinking you're smart until you open your mouth. She's a dead example of that. She abused her position as governor and tried to cover up her daughter's teenage pregnancy. John McCain, I know you were desperate to counter Obama's lead in the polls, but damn man. This is all the Republicans could come with? Really?!? I heard some disgruntled politicians are quietly asking her to resign. I wouldn't be surprised if she has some family emergency and must denounce her nomination. You know how sneaky people be. Anyway, tonight's debate is gonna be some good comedy. Get ready to laugh.

David Blaine sucks

David Blaine is dumb. How you expect me to believe you're doing a trick when you do the same shit I could do. I can hang upside down in the middle of the park. I can go broke and not eat and live in a box. This guy ain't no damn magician, he's more a con-artist at this point. This time he didn't even fast, they let him down to pee, test his vitals and what not. Where's the magic? I want to see some mind-blowing disappearing, shit flying, pulling stuff from a hat magic. This is some Mr. Wizard chemistry experiment bullshit. There's no mystery here! Here's a clip of David Blaine being "magical". Our EPIC FAIL OF THE MONTH award goes to you, congratulations man you've earned it.
